New Orleans Legends: Mahalia Jackson Theater reopens!

New Orleans‘ Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts reopens after a $22-million renovation. A week-long festival of events surrounding the theater’s debut kicks off with a program featuring New Orleans-based performers; throughout the week, visiting stars include violinist Itzhak Perlman, gospel singer Yolanda Adams and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. And don’t forget, Mahalia Jackson was born in New Orleans in 1911, where she was raised by her aunt from the age of four. The Mahalia Jackson Theatre for the Performing Arts is located in Louis Armstrong Park just across from the French Quarter on N. Rampart St; the park is named for New Orleans’s “favorite son” and is now recognized as the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park. So come on down and stay with us!  Located steps from Jackson Square, Bourbon Street, and the French Market, French Quarter Inns welcomes you to our two New Orleans French Quarter Hotel locations!
