French Quarter’s Audubon Aquarium: New Penguin Chick
NEW ORLEANS–The New Orleans Audubon Aquarium’s first penguin chick in eight years, still too fluffy to swim, ventured outside its nest for the first time! The African penguin chick hatched Feb. 21. This rare species is classed as “vulnerable” because over the past century, the number of breeding pairs has fallen from 1.5 million to 63,000. Reasons have included egg thefts, oil spills and, increasingly, shortages of the sardines and anchovies on which they feed. So come on down and visit the world class Audubon Aquarium and the new, fabulous Audubon Insectarium. In the Heart of the French Quarter, we have budget minded French Quarter hotel rate specials all the way through the summer. Come on down, enjoy the fun and see the new penguin! Some restrictions apply; book early for best availability. Easy on-line reservations or call us at 504-524-4401 or 1-800-225-4040!
